As an artist, I spend all my time exploring the fusion of Photography and Mathematical Art. I practice traditional digital photography, pure mathematical image making, and everything in between – as mixed media.
Photography: I am most interested in producing pictures in which light reveals hidden mysteries that speak to our unconscious minds. My recent hikes in the Provincetown dunes inspired surreal, dreamlike interpretations of the dunes’ abstract shapes.
Mathematics: I love using math to create haunting abstract imagery. The images are haunting because their mathematical patterns, revealed by undulations of light, shade and color, seem to say something about existence itself.
Combining the two, as mixed media, marries a photograph to an abstract pattern, creating a hybrid of reality, and abstraction, where the abstraction rearranges reality, and reality realizes the abstraction.
